Book Overview
The goal of this Immediate On-Demand Emergent Administrative Training program is to provide essential administrative insights not typically covered in clinical Respiratory Therapy (RT) programs. This training is specifically designed for RT students, aspiring respiratory therapists, and new RT supervisors with little or no prior supervisory experience. When first stepping into a supervisory role, many face a steep learning curve, often relying on trial and error. This program serves as a valuable resource, enabling inexperienced RT supervisors to transition into management roles more smoothly and efficiently, accelerating their ability to lead with confidence from the outset.
DR. IRVING T SPIVEY’S JOURNEY
My name is Irving T. Spivey, and I dedicated 24 years of service to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), where I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Respiratory Therapy and became a licensed Respiratory Therapist. For the last nine years of my career with the VA, I served as the Chief of the Respiratory Therapy Department. During this time, I also attended the Department of Veterans Affairs Graduate Healthcare Administration Program, completing the Health System Management Specialist program from June 2009 to June 2010. After retiring in 2012 with 31 years of federal service, I continued my education, earning a Master of Jurisprudence in Health Law Compliance and a Doctor of Healthcare Administration degree. Drawing on these diverse experiences, I wrote this book to share the insights I gained throughout my career in healthcare administration.
PROFESSIONAL Career Objectives
Looking ahead, my future career interests include roles as a Healthcare Compliance Officer, Educator, Consultant, Healthcare Administrator, and Board Member. There is nothing I look forward to more than a challenge that allows me to make a positive difference. I am confident in my ability to excel in these areas, and my track record of achievements speaks to the skills and dedication I bring to the table. I understand the art of fostering consensus, and I consider myself a well-rounded professional. I invite you to review my website to see the broad range of experiences I have to offer.
